The Porthole infuser is a simple, beautiful infusion vessel designed by Martin Kastner of Crucial Detail design studio. Whether or not you really want to drop a bill on your own Porthole, we’ll tell you what you do want to do, which is: watch the short video Kastner et al. The Kickstarter offer was, as you might expect, complete with video by Christian Seel, which we have below.Īs it happened, the $28,500 minimum goal was passed within a couple of hours yesterday, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t get one- you can order yours for $95, plus there are special edition Portholes at $250… and there’s even the chance to spend the day making cocktails with Grant Achatz and Charles Joly for $5000. In effect, they’re using Kickstarter as a preorder service- which would only collect your money if enough capital was raised to fund production. The food that comes with the cocktails is excellent too even though a bit pricy for the quantity. You see pousse-café style drinks, spheres, dry ice, ice shavings, infusion glass, espumas, smoke, air, dehydrations just to name variety of visuals you come across. ![]() Be sure to also talk a bit with your company as it is hard, one gets drawn to the action and you could loose yourself to what is happening here and there. Every bartender is in charge of a station or a group of drinks, sometimes only one drink as most of them are complex to compose. The downside, you get a standing table but its well worth it. We got lucky and we got placed right in front of it. Get a table close to the kitchen as it is the place where the magic happens. The bar is not for everyday but it is a place you should see when you come to this city. They have a person, the iceman who is just in charge of making the craziest ice. Unfortunately, he had already left when we visited but the place cherishes his legacy and excellent barkeepers, or rather “alchemists” work there.
